Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Can the BSC recommend a course for a diploma, BA, BSC , MA MSc ?A. We get asked this question quite frequently but we are not in a position to recommend or accredit a particular course. Can I access the BSC archive? A. The archives section is for members only. Non-members cannot be given access to this area. If you are not a member you may access all the other parts of the website and you might want to look through the publications section and particularly the 'Conference proceedings' which have articles taken from some of our conferences. If you would like to join, then please do so by using the on-line application form. Q. I would like to advertise something, what are the arrangements?A. Adverts in our e-bulletin cost £65; the same advert added to our website would cost an additional £65. The advert should be provided as a word document and a logo (if required) needs to be a jpeg.Adverts for free events and studentships are placed free of charge. Q. Do you have any volunteer or intern opportunities?A. Unfortunately we are such a small organisation that we are unable to accommodate work experience. Q. If I join now when will my membership begin?A Membership runs from January to December regardless of joining date - late joiners will receive back issues of the journal/s for the full year. Q. I am a journalist looking for an expert on prisons/policing/hate crime. Can the BSC put me in contact with one?A. The BSC is a small organisation employing part-time staff. While the Society would like to help with media enquiries directly relating to the future and funding of criminological research and study, due to limited resources it cannot act as a media referral service for more general media requests.
