Forging Social Justice: Local Challenges, Global Complexities
Sheffield Hallam University
Editor’s Note
The British Society of Criminology’s 2017 Conference was held from 4-7 July and hosted by Sheffield Hallam University. The theme was ‘Forging Social Justice: Local Challenges, Global Complexities’, a topic addressed by plenary speakers:
Professor John Braithwaite – Australian National University
Professor Valerie Braithwaite – Australian National University
Professor Stephen Farrall – University of Sheffield
Professor Fergus McNeill – University of Glasgow
Professor Phil Scraton – Queen’s University Belfast
Dr Beth Weaver – University of Strathclyde
Professor Simon Winlow – Teesside Centre for Realist Criminology.
As always the journal has a rigorous peer-review process but (hopefully) a sympathetic approach to authors – especially early career and postgraduate authors – with helpful feedback and advice, even if a paper is rejected. There is a tight timetable in order to publish the same year as the conference and so we are hugely indebted to the reviewers and the authors for turning things around so promptly. Many interesting papers were rejected purely because tight deadlines did not allow enough polishing time.
