Previous Innovation Fund Reports

A beneficiary writes:

I was delighted to be awarded a grant from the BSC which enabled me to attend and present at the international seminar ‘Retail crime: International evidence and prevention’ in Stockholm. The event was co-sponsored by The Swedish Retail and Wholesale Council (Handelsrådet) and the BSC. It was a fantastic event facilitating the sharing of ideas between academia and industry, and I am hugely grateful to the Society for the opportunity to be part of it, and to the organizer Associate Professor Vania Ceccato.”

Dr. Emmeline Taylor, Australian National University

The small print

The first recourse for funding should be to your own institution (where applicable) and applicants should show that they have sought full or partial funding from their organisation. Applications will not be considered for less than £100. The maximum grant is £1,000.

Eligibility: Grants are available for the dissemination of research, at post-doctoral or equivalent level. Postgraduate students are eligible to apply. Applicants must be members of the British Society of Criminology. Awards will not be made retrospectively: this means that the work for which support is requested must not have commenced before the award is announced. There is an expectation that the event will be charged. The proposers are required to return the monies when the income generated equals or exceeds the amount the BSC has given. The proposers are expected to return 40% of the profit. In the case of an event not being charged the proposers are to put forward a case explaining the rationale for this.

Application process

Please complete this application form (opens as a Word document) to include the following and send to info@britsoccrim.org

1. Title of the project.

2. A brief description of the conference / colloquium or symposium. The main objectives of the proposed event. Seminar grant holders are to include in the proposal an Impact Report as an outcome of the event.

4. Description and justification for the costs. Itemised estimated costs and the sum requested.

5. The start and end dates of the current proposal.

6. Contact details of the applicants.

Decisions are made by the Executive Committee four times per year.

The report of the event will be published in the BSC Newsletter and a link of that report will be made available on the BSC website. The information outlined will be required to release the final payment.
